Inspired by the "redlining" of Port Morris in the South Bronx headed by the City Planning Commission (CPC) and, later, the Department of City Planning (DCP), CLASS WARFARE is created using building materials inherent in construction to depict the game of chess as historical artifact--a testament to the ongoing struggle between land development and community activism. Conceived from the rezoned footprint of Port Morris, the remaining pieces are the result of the impact of this struggle leaving both opponents in a "stalemate".
